Mrs. Josie Smith

Mrs. Anna Josephine (Josie) Parker Smith, 64, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, where she had been since June 26.

The daughter of James and Ollie McCarty Myers, she was born May 18, 1909 in Van Buren County. She married John E. Parker who died in 1937. She later married Stanley Smith. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James Parker in Keosauqua and Robert Parker of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. JoAnn Johnston of Galesburg, Ill.; five grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Katie DeSchinkel of Rock Island, Ill. and Mrs. Helen Bennett of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by one son, several brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be Thursday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. John Cornish of the United Methodist Chruch officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery.
