THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 1973

Rex Runyon

Mr. Rex Runyon, age 71 of Hillsboro, died about 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April the 15th in the Van Buren County Hospital at Keosauqua. He was born December 3, 1901, near Hillsboro, the son of Lewis A. and (Ida Mae Boley) Runyon. On October 1, 1925, at Fairfield, he was married to Fern Philips.

Mr. Runyon was a retired farmer, living most of his life on the same farm west of Hillsboro. He was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist church.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Mrs. William (Ardyth) Newman of Burlington, 2 sons William (Billie) Runyon and Milo G. Runyon, both of Hillsboro, 8 grandchildren and one great-grand child. Preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. from the Hillsboro Baptist church, with the Reverend Lester Smith, pastor of the church officiating. Interment was in the Hillsboro Cemetery, with the Beatty-Jennings Chapel of Salem in charge of the arrangements for the family. Casket Bearers were Vinton Hoaglin, Dean Boley, Donald Shelman, Kenneth Watson, C.F. Hoaglin and Mandel Watson. Mrs. Forrest Fuhrer was the organist.

A Memorial in the memory of Mr. Runyon was to the Iowa Commission for the Blind.
