Fossey J. Hoskin

Fossey J. Hoskin, son of Monteray Hoskin and Rebecca Tackaberry Hoskin was born near Cantril, Ia., April 13, 1877 and departed this life Friday, Jan. 5, 1973 at Van Buren Memorial Hospital where he had been hospitalized since October.

On July 20th, 1902, he was married to Selma Warner of Keosauqua, and they had enjoyed over 70 years of married life. She passed away just this last March 30, 1972.

To this union one son was born, Wilbur, who preceded him in death, Nov. 1957.

He will be remembered as a farmer, good neighbor, and a true friend among this Cantril Community. He was a member of the Cantril Methodist Church.

They moved to Hotel Manning about 14 years ago and enjoyed the people and activities around there.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Beverly, her husband, Cleve Hannah, Debbie and Terry of Des Moines, Hulber Halbertstadt of Clear Lake, a foster son, his daughter, Joan and Douglas Downing of Decorah, and son Ray Halberstadt and family of Baxter, Ia., many nieces, and nephews and a host of friends.
