Jay Craig

Jay Craig, 82, retired carpenter, died at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been admitted at 8:20 p.m. He had been failing in health for some time.

Last rites were held Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial was in the Pittsburg Cemetery in Van Buren County.

Jay Craig was born Nov. 23, 1890, at Kilbourne, the son of John and Olive Evans Craig. He was reared and educated in Van Buren County.

His marriage to Mabel Lee took place July 3, 1918, in Fairfield where he had made his home for the past several years. The family home is a 106 N. Morgan.

Craig was a carpenter most of his life, he was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, member of Elks Lodge 1192 of which he was a past ruler.

He is survived by his widow, and was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.
