Marvin E. Lanman

Marvin E. Lanman, son of Sylvester and Margaret Ann Lynch Lanman, was born Feb. 21, 1905, in Davis County and departed this life Monday, Nov. 17, 1972 at his farm home south of Selma at the age of 67.

On Nov. 4, 1925, he was married to Mildred Parker. She remains to cherish his memory. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Garmon of Carlisle and Mrs. Irene More of Eldon; a son, Lloyd of Selma; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Corda McClure of Bloomfield and Mrs. Emma Carroll of Ottumwa; other relatives and many friends.

His parents, three sisters and a grandchild preceded him in death.

Marvin spent his life farming in the Selma community. He also operated a trucking business and for a time was employed at the Eldon Elevator. He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church and Starlight Lodge No. 350, Knights of Pythias at Douds.

Marvin will be remembered as a faithful husband and father, a good citizen and a true friend, and his patience and perseverance during his years of failing health were a inspiration to all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1972 at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Christian Church of rural Floris, with burial in the churchyard cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Caughron of Milton and the Rev. Maurice Overturf, pastor, officiated. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith . Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Garold Hughes. Pall bearers were Stephen and Terry Garmon, Richard and Ronald Moore, Richard Fulcher and Jim Ellison. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
