Maurice E. Atkins

Maurice E. Atkins, 84, died Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 a.m. at the Van Buren county Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Sept. 22, 1887 at Milton, Iowa, the son of David and Lillie May Henthorn Atkins. He was in the poultry business and was a postmaster. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church.

On Oct. 1, 1909, he married Letha Ann Rhodes, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter, Nedra Pauline Atkins of Washington, D.C. and a sister, Mrs. Beryl Gilchrist of Milton.

The funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 3, 1972 at 2:00 p.m. at teh Wellborn Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Gerald Caughron, pastor of the Milton Christian Church. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
