Benjamin Marion Scott

Benjamin Marion Scott, 75, died shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20 at his home near Keosauqua. Death terminated a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 20, 1896, at Benova, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Katie Oldt Scott. On June 26, 1920, he married Dottie Mae Randolph near Bentonsport.

Mr. Scott farmed most of his life and in the last few years enjoyed his hobby of making looms and weaving. He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his widow; one son, Chester E. of Rochelle, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Ileen Brown of Huntley, Ill. and Mrs. Edith Foggy of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, Harry H. Scott of Bloomfield; four sisters, Mrs. Birdie Randolph of Milton, Mrs. Mary Miller of Farmington, Mrs. Mabel Krieger of Dallas City, Ill.; Mrs. Helen Spiker of Middletown, Ind.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

The body was taken to the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Center Chapel Church with the Rev. James M. Ford officiating. Burial was in the Center Chapel Cemetery.

A memorial payable to the Center Chapel United Methodist Church has been established.
