Van M. Canaday, 79, of Eldon died June 5, 1991 at the Bloomfield Care Center.
He was born August 24, 1911, in Birmingham to Fred & Della Hendricks Canaday. He married Helen Ramsey February 3, 1936, in Memphis, Mo.
He was reared & educated in Birmingham rural schools. He moved to Eldon in 1942. He was employed by Rock Island Railroad for 35 years before retiring in 1942. He attended the Eldon United Methodist Church & was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Vivien Abeyla of Des Moines; a son Bill Canaday of Arvada, Colo.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three brothers, Dale of Selma, Don of Newton and Geneo of Loveland, Colo.
He was preceeded in death by a sister.
The services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 1991 at Eldon United Methodist Church, the Rev. Mary Shultz officiating. Burial was in Eldon Cemetery.
Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home, Eldon, in charge of arrangements.
Memorial may be made to the Eldon Public Library.
