Victor Frank Carlson 71, died suddenly of a heart attack in Dr. Mathews office, Milton, IA at 11:45 a.m. Thanksgiving Day,Nov. 26, 1942. Mr. Carlson was son of Karl & Kristina Svensson and was born Aug. 6, 1871 in Massedo, Sweden. He
came to United States in the late 1890's and met
Anna Christina Johnson, who also came to United States from Sweden and they were married on Dec. 23, 1899. Mr. Carlson had made his customary rounds greeting his friends and had got his morning mail when he became suddenly ill on his way home. He managed to step into Dr. Matthew's office for help but died within a few minutes.To this union were six children: Hilmer Carlson of Arbela,Mo; Mrs. Irene Williams of Des Moines; Mrs. Helen Zugg of Galesburg, IL; Mrs. Edith Murphy of Pulaski, IA; Clifford D.Carlson of Bloomfield; and Robert preceding him in death at the age of 6 years.
Mr. & Mrs. Carlson made their home in Illinois until 1913 when they moved to Iowa and for the last three years have made their home in Milton, IA. In youth he united with the Swedish Lutheran church and at the time of his death was a member of the Milton Methodist church. Always a kind father and a good neighbor, he will ever be remembered by a host of friends, always willing to help whenever he felt he could lend a hand.
The funeral was held from the Milton Methodist church with pastor Rev. J.C. Behrens officiating, burial at Milton Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mr. Carlson had one sister and a brother living in Sweden and a brother, August Carlson living in Cambridge, IL.Submitted by his Grand-daughter (LuRee Carlson Runnells) from Obit. & Newspaper articles in my possession.
