Mary E. McLeland was born in Indiana March 26, 1848, died at her home in Cantril, Ia., Nov. 9, 1906, age 58 years, 7 months and 14 days.
While yet a child she came with her parents to Iowa which continued to be her home until her death.
On Feb. 10, 1870, she was united in marriage to Milton Linn. To this union ten children were born, six daughters and four sons.
Bro. and Sister Linn began their married life at the old home near Home Prairie Church and they continued to live in the immediate vicinity until about two years ago when on account of failing health they moved to Cantril.
About two years ago last July, the deceased was stricken with a severe attack of paralysis and she has since been a constant sufferer with that affliction. She bore her trial with great patience and knowing that the messenger might come at any moment waited his summons without fear.
She was a woman greatly beloved and will be sadly missed in the home and the community.
Shortly after her marriage she united with the Presbyterian church and continued a faithful, consistent member of the same.
She is survived by a husband, five daughters, three sons, a number of grandchildren and four brothers and three sisters. There preceded her from her immediate loved ones one daughter, in infancy, and Chas. who died at 13 years of age.
Funeral services were conducted from the home at the Methodist Church by Rev. Gilbert, on Sunday Nov. 11, 1906. A large number of old neighbors and friends were present.
