Republican Paper dated 7 March 1940 page 3 col.2
Allie Felmlee Weir was born in West Moreland county, Pa. 14 February 1867, and departed this life 9 February.1940, at the age of 72 years 11 months 26 days. In 1871 she came to Van Buren Co. Iowa with her parents, who settled at the site of the present Weir home. Here she grew to womanhood and 12 April 1884 was united in marriage to John W. Weir. To this union were born nine children, four of whom preceded her in death, three in infancy, and Pearl, at the age of 24. She is survived by her husband and five children, Beulah Plowman, Weldy and Flava of Douds,Floyd of Le Sueur, Mn and Roy of Des Moines.
She was united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Mt. Moriah when but a small child. She took great delight in church and Sunday School work until her health failed. In the spirit of Christ she went about doing good, always ready to give assistance when it was needed in sickness, sorrow or trouble of any kind. No one can estimate the value of such a life in a community. She was a devoted wife and mother, always interested in her children's welfare and strove to make them useful citizens. All her life manifested an unusual love for flowers and many happy hours were spent in there culture and the admiration of their beauty. Five months ago she was stricken with what proved to be her last illness. Although all was done that loving hands could do, after months of patient suffering and great weakness she quietly passed from us. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her departure one brother, Alpha Felmlee of Le Sueur, MN, six grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends
