DEATH OF RICHARD S. BECK
"Died, March 2, 1913, Richard Simms Beck, aged 85 years and 11 months. Born at Romes Point, near Wheeling, Va., April 2, 1827. Survived by his widow, Henrietta S. Beck, Ocean Park; and sons Wm. D. Beck, El Monte, Cal., and John M. of Pasadena, Cal. Funeral March 4. Interment in Inglewood cemetery."
Last week mention was made in the REPUBLICAN of Mr. Beck's serious sickness and the foregoing announcement of his death is taken from the Los Angeles, Cal., Times, published in his home city. As was said last week, Mr. Beck was married to Miss Henrietta Lea in Keosauqua, who survives, and many residents of this and Jefferson county will remember him and hear with sorrow of this good man's death. Mr. and Mrs. Beck were united in marriage at Keosauqua, May 13, 1874, Rev. John W. Windsor, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating, and while this was not their home thereafter, they often visited here and greatly enjoyed coming back to the old town.
