Mildred Jolley

Mildred P. Jolley, 82, of Lomax, Ill., died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born March 16, 1917, in Revere, Mo., she was the daughter of Ben and Olive Hughes Van Hyning. On Oct. 21, 1933, she married Ray L. Jolley in Burlington. He died Aug. 25, 1994.

Mrs. Jolley worked for the Lomax Canning Factory and, with her husband, as a custodian at the Lomax grade school. She also cleaned homes in Lomax.

She enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include one son, John Jolley of Parkersburg; two daughters, Barbara Rettig of Dallas City, Ill., and Janice Cross of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Jolley will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grace Bible Church in Dallas City, with the Rev. Larry Van Gundy officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax.

A memorial has been established for the Lomax Haunted House Boys.
