Obituary.

Bessie June Donald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Donald, was born at the old home near Stockport, June 3, 1897.

She was a happy child and was loved by all her playmates. When able she attended school at Union school having for her teacher, one term, Mrs. Elsie Collais Hastings, and the other term, Miss Maud Elliott. The last of last year she was troubled with inflammatory rheumatism, and it grew worse until it left an affected heart, with symptoms of endocarditis very marked. This spring she had the whooping cough and after getting up from this, was much better, being out at town on May 6th. Every one was hopeful, but she grew worse May 8th and slipped away from us May 12, at 4:45 p.m..

She loved to sing "More About Jesus" and "Lord I'm Coming Home." She loved her books and among the last things she said, was trying to recite her lessons. She was always afraid she was making somebody trouble, and would ask often if others were tired of waiting on her. She is gone but to live in a brighter, better world.

The funeral services were conducted May 14, at 10 o'clock, Lloyd Tennant, pastor M.E. Church, preaching from 2 Samuel xii, 23. A select number furnished the music. Mrs. George Smith and daughter singing a beautiful duet and Rev. Tennant a solo, with Miss Dorsett at the organ. The funeral was in charge of Undertaker Alton, of Birmingham. Interment was in the Smith cemetery. The casket was covered with flowers and the grave lined with wild flowers each showing the loving esteem of friends in this dark hour when human sympathy is so needed and yet so unable to comfort.

She may not return to us, but we may go to her.
