Hootman rites at Birmingham

Funeral services for Ernest "Mouse" Hootman, 78, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Hootman, a longtime resident of Vinton, died Thursday at Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Dysart. He was a native of Van Buren County and a retired Rock Island Railroad employee.

Hootman was born at Kilbourn, the son of Jesse H. and Anna Beatrice Jamieson Hootman. He was never married. Surviving are three brothers, Kenneth and Arthur Hootman, both of Vinton; and Eugene Hootman, Cedar Rapids.

Friends may call at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. or at the Birmingham church Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
