Obituary of Mrs. S. R. Henry.

Rose Mae Hill, the beloved and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Hill, was born near Ashton, Clark county, Mo, and passed away at Bentonsport, Iowa, Saturday, Oct. 29th, 1910, at the age of 28 years, 3 months and 25 days.

She was united in marriage to S. Russell Henry, Sept 14, 1902, continuing their residence here. Four bright children, June, Mildred, Stanley, and Mabel, blessed the home that was saddened in December last by the death of the father, and now the faithful young wife and mother has answered the summons, having contracted the disease, consumption, while nursing her beloved companion.

As a wife and mother Mae's devotion to her family and home was the comment of her friends. Their married life was ideal. No harsh words ever passed between them, no clouds marred the perfect love they cherished for one another. All through her husband's sickness and the trials of motherhood no murmur escaped her lips, and with the beautiful smile that always illuminated her face she met every duty with Christian fortitude, and so it is but natural that two lives so beautifully blended in harmony and love should be reunited in that home where parting is unknown.

Returning in August from a visit to her brother in Valley Junction, it became apparent to her loved ones that Mae was in the decline, the knowledge of her condition being carefully concealed lest it grieve her parents, and from that time she failed rapidly, not suffering, but just slipping away like a blighted rose, and, surrounded by loving relatives and the most tender care, she passed away in the full enjoyment of His wondrous love and the knowledge of a rich inheritance.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Hill, four children, one brother, Harry Hill of Valley Junction, and innumerable friends who mourn her death.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Bentonsport on Monday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Herbert J. Taylor and the remains were laid to rest in the Bentonsport cemetery.
