Ray E. Gerber

Ray E. Gerber, 90, Lowell, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

He was born April 7, 1887 in Burlington, the son of William and Flora Lewis Gerber.

He married Leah Gregg on April 4, 1922, in Ft. Madison. Mr. Gerber operated an oil station in Lowell for 40 years, retiring 15 years ago. He was a World War I Army veteran, a member of the DAV, and of the American Legion in Ft. Madison.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Thornburg, Keosauqua, and Mrs. Elsie Williams, Lowell; one son, Darrell, York, Pa.; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elliott Chapel, New London, with the Rev. James Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Ft. Madison.
