Tomkins rites Sunday

William R. Tomkins, 84, 501 S. Fourth, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Parkview Care Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Behner Funeral home with Pastor Joseph Twing officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Stockport.

William R. Tomkins was born March 3, 1896, at Kingfisher, Okla., the son of George and Mary Alice Hammans Tomkins.

He was married to Jessie Standley May 19, 1919. She died July 9, 1956. His marriage to Gladys Cowan took place Oct. 6, 1957. She survives.

Tomkins was a rural mail carrier at Stockport for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Stockport Legion. He lived most of his life in the Stockport Community until he moved to Fairfield 22 years ago.

In addition to his widow he is survived by two sons, Forrest, Phoenix, Ariz. and Carol Burlington.

Also a stepson, Don Stevens, Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Tomkins and a sister, Lena Watson, both of Stockport.
