Stanley Van Zant

Stanley E. (Gene) Van Zant, 54, Rived Rd. died Saturday night at Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla.

He was the son of Paul E. and Alice Kepler Van Zant and was born November 21, 1923 in Farmington, Iowa. He had been a resident of Keokuk the past 30 years.

A WW II veteran, he served with the Army Air Force in the Philippine Islands.

For many years he was a partner and in recent years was owner of Keokuk Plumbing and Heating Co. until retiring two years ago.

He married Carol J. Blaisdell on September 1, 1946 in Keokuk.

He was a member of the United Trinity Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Eagles Club and the Keokuk Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife; one son Steven E., Creve Coeur, Ill.; two daughters Mrs. Thomas (Cathy) Richardson, Stevens Point, Wis. and Mrs. William (Paula) Hyatt, Marshalltown, Iowa; three grandchildren; his father Paul of Keokuk; one uncle Dale Van Zant, Keokuk; and two aunts.

He was preceded in death by his mother; one grandson; and his grandparents.

Arrangements are pending at Greaves Mortuary.
