Levi Mohler was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Mohler and was born near Logansport, Ohio, December 21, 1826 and died June 21, 1914, aged 87 years and 6 months. He came to Iowa in the spring of 1851 and settled on a farm on Vernon Prairie where he resided all of his life except the last 16 years which he spent in Bonaparte.

He was married to Susan Miller on March 8, 1851. Of this union two sons were born - William, who died in 1904, and Noah, who now resides near Farmington. He has three grandchildren - Joe of Elreno, Oklahoma, Harvey of Galesburg, Ill., and Georgia, who has taken care of him and waited patiently and faithfully on him for the last four years. He was one of seven children, six having passed before him to the other shore.

He was a very sociable man, one who probably passed through life without making an enemy, and one who made hosts of friends. Those who know him best say that he was a "good man". This word "good" means more than any other word can tell.

Sincerest sympathy is extended to the son Noah, and to the grandchildren, and to all those who mourn the loss of this brother who has gone on before.

The funeral was held at the Vernon M.E. Church Tuesday noon with the Rev. L.T. Hughes officiating, and interment in the Vernon Cemetery.
