Daniel Macklin, son of William and Sarah Macklin, was born in Farmington, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1867. During his infancy his parents moved to Clark County, Mo., where he grew to manhood.

March 1, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Newman. To them were born four children, three of whom died in infancy, and one son, Clell, who now resides in Aberdeen, Washington. Later in life he moved to Bonaparte where he engaged in his trade, that of blacksmith. In March, 1900, his wife died.

Feb. 15, 1904, he was married to Lettie B. Rigby of near Bonaparte, Ia., who survives. In July, 1905, he was taken seriously ill and paralysis of the lower limbs ensued, from which he never recovered. From that time until death came to his release he was a constant sufferer, but amidst it all he endured his helplessness with phenomenal patience and fortitude, and his hopefulness sustained him to the last. Death came Saturday, Feb. 14, 1914, when his age was 46 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

The surviving members of his family are his wife, son, Clell, two sisters, Mrs. Laura Shaffer, and Miss Ollie, three brothers, Austin, Edson, and Floyd.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Bonaparte at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Elder Jas. McKiernan of Farmington in charge assisted by Rev. Hughes, the pastor. Interment at Sharon Cemetery.
