Rev. McElhinny Dead

Rev. C.S. McElhinny died suddenly Friday morning at the Guthrie home northwest of Bonaparte. Rev. McElhinny had been called to the Jo Sanderson home Wednesday evening to perform wedding of Otto McCracken and Miss Elsie Sanderson. Soon after the wedding he complained of being ill and stopped at the Guthrie home to spend the night.

He was quite seriously ill Thursday morning and a physician was called but he rapidly grew worse until the end came about 4 o’clock Friday morning. Death was probably due to acute indigestion.

He was a graduate of Parsons College and was about fifty years old. He had valuable property interests in Fairfield where he made his home. He was pastor of the Presbyterian Churches in Mt. Zion and Bentonsport where he was greatly beloved and had many very close friends.

At the time of his death his wife and two daughters were spending their summer vacation at Lake Okoboji and did not know of his illness until notified of his death.
