HAZLE A. STRAH

Hazle A Strah of Farmington passed away Saturday, May 25, a Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 78 years, eight months and five days.

She was the daughter of J.W. and Cora Vannatta Gordon, born in Fairfield, ia. Sept. 20, 1889. In 1913, she moved with her parents to a farm south of Bentonsport.

In 1915, she married Charles E. Strah of Farmington and they made their home on a farm southeast of Keosauqua for many years. To this union, one son was born.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her father and mother and one infant sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Robert and daughter-in-law Mildred of Keosauqua; grandchildren, Raymond and sue of Kirksville, Mo., Ronald and Patricia of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerry Duane and Elizabeth of Keosauqua; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Stansell of Fairfield, Mrs. Gail Rankin of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Vannatta Grimes of Farmington; two brothers, J.C. (Duff) Gordon of Keosauqua, Wilson Gordon of Lima, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Farmington Unite of the American Legion Auxiliary.

For 15 years Hazle had owned and operated the Farmington Rest Home and continued to operate it until a few weeks before her death.

Funeral services were held at Catcott Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, with burial in Center Chapel Cemetery.
