OTTO R. SHELMAN

Otto R. Shelmand, 84, passed away Friday, Oct. 20 at 5:30 P.M. in the Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, following a short illness. He was a lifetime resident of the Hillsboro community.

Born Aug. 22, 1883, in Van Buren County near Hillsboro, the son of John W. and Sarah Coltrane Shelman. A retired farmer and member of the Hillsboro Baptist church.

He was married to Birdie L. Teter, who preceded him in death. Later he married Grace A. Coleman, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donald of Hillsboro, Curtis of Stockton, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Leland (Louise) Hott of Cedar Falls, Ia., one step-daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Beghtol of Portland, Ore., one sister, Mrs. Emery Crane of Lockridge and a brother, Louis Shelman of Lockridge, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 23, at 2 P.M. from the Hillsboro Baptist church, Rev. David Diercks officiating, with interment in the Hillsboro Cemetery. The Beatty Funeral Chapel of Salem were in charge of funeral arrangements.
