Carl W. Greenfield 1920-2017

GREENFIELD, POOL, MICHAEL, FULTON, DICAMPLI, COOP, REYNOLDS, WILKES

Carl Whitmore Greenfield passed away on July 19, 2017, at the Veterans Home in Boise, ID. He was born on April 23, 1920, to
Marie and Roy Greenfield in Douds, IA. The oldest of two sons, he attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Douds High School in 1938.

Carl married Kathryn Pool in 1939 and later divorced having had had two daughters, Marilyn Greenfield Michael (Tom), and Linda Kay Greenfield Fulton (Loyal), both of Selma IA.

Carl was in the Coast Guard during WWII, with Military Intelligence, inspecting ships coming into the port of Los Angles until the war ended. He them moved to Fort Collins, CO, where he began a lifetime career of carpentry and laying carpet. He met and married his second wife Donna and they had two sons, Carl and Greg Greenfield, before divorcing.

He eventually moved to Boise, ID, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Louise DiCampli. They were married December 31, 1965, and were married for 48 years. He inherited a daughter, Carol Ann DiCampli.

Carl and Dorothy worked side by side at Greendoor Distributors until they retired and moved to Grandview, ID, in 1980 to a home on the Snake River until they later moved into town. Carl was the Commander of American Legion Post 134 for 25 years (give or take). He was responsible for the procuring many of the flags that are now flown at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Then they moved to Nampa Idaho to be close to their daughter and son-in-law.

Carl enjoyed traveling and photography, he and Dorothy traveled to Europe and visited many countries like Spain, Italy, France, and Germany just to name a few. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and deep-sea fishing. He loved spending time with his grandkids, and teaching them different things, and they all loved spending time with him.

He is survived by both his sons and two daughters and a son-in-law, Richard Coop, 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Roy, wife Dorothy, brother, Gerry, daughter, Carol Coop, granddaughter, Lori Reynolds, and a greatgrandson, Joshua Wilkes.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. and that number will beimpossible to measure. Memorial services with military honors were held July 24, 2017, at Bowman's Funeral Home, Boise, ID.
