Vonsavanh Chounlamany, 38, of Douds, passed away July 18, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Von was the son of Souphasavath and Xiane Chounlamany of Douds. Von came to the United States with his parents in June 1980, not quite two years old.

Von graduated from Van Buren Community Schools in 1997 and attended Indian Hills Community College studying electronics for two years, then two more years studying auto body which increased his passion for building cars and trucks. He was a master at fabrication. He was an active member of Negative Camber Truck Club and was always ready to help his friends. Von traveled extensively across the U.S. attending car and truck shows showing his trucks. He had his trucks featured in Mini Trucking, Street Tracks, Truckin' and Sport Truck magazines. His business name was Laodies Kustomz.

Von is survived by his parents, and his brother, Jason Chounlamany (Ami) of Ottumwa, nieces and nephews: Aidan and Kaley Lovan, and Emmalyn and Nason Chounlamany. He was preceded in death by his sister, Khas Chounlamany.

Funeral services were held July 22, 2017, at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating, followed immediately by a Buddhist service with Bountham Khamphilanouvong officiating. Cremation followed the services. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Oskaloosa.
