William Martin

William Martin, 75, Albia, died Monday at 3 p.m. at Silvis, Ill., where he and his wife had been spending the holidays.

The son of Ellsworth and Caroline Riddle Martin, he was born at Birmingham, Dec. 7, 1893. He was married in Fairfield to Nellie Rowley on Oct. 29, 1914.

He was employed at International Harvester Co. at East Moline, Ill., from 1943 to 1958, when he retired and returned to Monroe County.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Gray of Albia and Margaret Ruby of East Moline, Ill.; one son, William G. of Lakeland, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred of Houston, Texas; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Dick Rhoads of Albia, Beulah Weldon of Lovilia, and Mrs. Walter Esterbrook of Savanna, Ill.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home with Donld Plum, lay pastor, in charge. Burial will eb(be) in Woodland Cemetery at Lovolia.
