The following clipping was sent to us by Sam Smutz, Stockport:

The death of Orr L. McVeigh, age 86 years, 264 2nd Avenue South, Saskatoon, Kan., a pioneer Saskatchewan farmer, occurred suddenly at his home on Nov. 6, 1966. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Grant Closson (Velma), Clair, Sask., Mrs. C. Orser (Leone), Hughton, Sask., Mrs. J. Knight (Wylma), Saskatoon; two sons, Ray, Kenaston, and Doyle, Downsview, Ont.; 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife in October, 1960. He was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

The late Mr. McVeigh was born in Iowa and married Lizzie Mae Howard, at Keosauqua, Iowa, Nov. 2nd, 1900. He came to Canada in 1906 to homestead at Kenaston, Sask. In 1947 he retired from the farm to Kelowna, B.C., and returned to reside in Saskatoon 16 years ago. Mr. McVeigh had taken an active part in the community affairs at Kenaston. He had been chairman of the Kenaston Rural Telephone board and had served on the Zid School Board, the Coop Association and the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for many years.

Interment took place in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

He was a former resident of Stockport and has cousins living there.
