JOHN A. LOGAN

John A. Logan was born at Hillsboro, Iowa Dec. 18, 1914, the son of Harry C. and Gertrude Moxley Logan, and passed away Jan. 17, 1967 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital at East Orange, New Jersey.

John was a World War II veteran having served with the 361st Field Artillery Battalion in the southern Philippines and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. He was a member of the American Legion Post and the Disabled American Veterans in Rahway, New Jersey. He was a Baptist by faith.

Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Virtus Struve of Clinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Albert (Mae) Decker of Stockport; two brothers, Floyd C. Logan of Skokie, Ill., and Hugh R. Logan of Hillsboro. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 20, 1967, at the Hillsboro Baptist church, 2 P.M. The Rev. W. David Diercks officiated with Mrs. Forrest Fuhrer as organist and Mrs. Delmar Barton as soloist. The Hillsboro American Legion Post provided bearers, rifle squad and color guard. Interment with military honors, was in the Sharon cemetery. Bearers were M.M. Doan, Jr., Craig Smart, Donald Shelman, John Fleming, Dean Stecker and Sylvester Kruse.
