OBITUARY

FRANCIS SIDNEY HOLMES

Francis Sidney Holmes, 48, of New London, died suddenly Nov. 20 about 7:50 p.m. enroute to Burlington with his wife and friends.

The son of Sidney V. and Emma Klug Holmes, he was born Feb. 8, 1917 in Charleston, Iowa. He married Esther Crank Dec. 16, 1941 at Denmark.

He was a member of The First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

He was employed at I.A.A.P.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ilene Kay Howell; one granddaughter; one grandson, his parents of Stockport; two brothers, Osborne of Birmingham and Donald of Stockport; five sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Ruby) Sharp of Winfield, Mrs. E.E. (Shirley) Avery of Denmark, Mrs. Dale (Marian) Bales of rural West Point, Mrs. Jack (Faye) Giberson of Zweibrucken, Germany and Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Heston of Stockport. A brother, Stanley David, died in infancy.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Troxel and Rev. John Giles officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery at Burlington.
