BESSIE F. HOOTMAN
Mrs. Bessie F. Hootman, 80, of Birmingham and Stockport, died Friday morning, Sept. 15 at Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua.
She was born Feb. 7, 1887, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Emsley and Carrie Giberson Canaday. She married Jacob B. Hootman, Aug. 27, 1904. He died Sept. 20, 1962.
Surviving: A daughter, Mrs. Mary Laughlin of Douds; three sons, James of Douds, Junior of Floris, and Hollis of Agency; 13 grandchildren; a brother Fred of Eldon, and three sisters, Mrs. Cecil Manning of Ottumwa, Mrs. Eldon Popejoy of Pleasant Plain and Mrs. Gladys Pencil of Fairfield.
Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Sunday, at the Burch Funeral Home, Birmingham, in charge of the Rev. Ora Reep. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
