DIED.
WENDT--At the home of her son-in-law in Farmington, August 17, at 9 a.m., Mrs. Henrietta Wendt, in the 68th year of her age.
Mrs. Wendt was born in Sildi, Hanover, Germany, in 1820. Was married to John Henry Wendt August 17, 1842. In 1854 she removed with her husband to America, and resided one year near Primrose when they removed to the vicinity of Hillsboro and resided 21 years. In 1876 they removed to a farm purchased near Primrose and resided there until Mr. Wendt's death, which was just two months to the day and hour before his wife. She was the mother of ten children, six of whom are now living. Henry in McPherson county, Kan.; Henrietta, wife of Christ Smith, in Primrose; Christ Wendt west of Farmington; Mina, wife of August Banks, at Warren; Sophia, wife of Louis Podeyn, in Farmington; and William Wendt who lives on the home place.
After the death of her husband Mrs. Wendt visited the children, coming to her daughter's Mrs. Louis Podeyn's about a month ago. She took sick a week later and after three weeks suffering passed away. Although nominally dying from catarrh in the stomach and cholera morbus, the real trouble was the death of her husband, after which she began to sink and did not care to live longer.
She was buried at Primrose from the Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. A. Pfister, officiating. Ceremony at 10 a.m. last Sunday. A large concourse followed the remains.
