MRS. FLORENCE HIXSON

Mrs. Florence Mae Hixson, daughter of Dora and William Shaw, was born Nov. 20, 1877, near Hillsboro and departed this life April 7, 1969 at the Kennedy Home in Mt. Pleasant at the age of 91.

On Dec. 16, 1896 she was united in marriage to Luther W. Hixson and to this union were born four children, Lester P. of Mt. Pleasant, Phil W. of Hillsboro and twin daughters, Erma and Verna.

Surviving are two sons; three grandchildren, Robert L. Hixson of Clinton, Ia., Mary Lou Roan of Cedar Falls, Ia. and Sara K. Spurbeck of Waverly, Ia. Several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rena of Atwater, Calif. and Muriel of Burlington, Ia. also survive.

Her husband, the infant daughters, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hixson was a life-long resident of the Hillsboro community and a charter member of the Hillsboro Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Apr. 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the Hillsboro Christian Church with Rev. Levi Winfrey officiating. Mrs. Mabel Fuhrer provide the organ music. Bearers were W.A. Tade, Robert Tade, Byron Church, Vinton Hoaglin, C.F. Hoaglin and John Carter. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wm. Tade, Robert Tade, Vinton Hoaglin, C.F. Hoaglin, John Carter and Wm. Whitaker.
