Samuel H. Gilbert

Samuel H. Gilbert, 69, of rural route Farmington, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 5:15 p.m. in Burlington Hospital where he was a patient 30 days.

He was born Jan. 12, 1898 in Kilbourn, the son of George and Castella Duella Taylor Gilbert.

On Dec. 5, 1917 he married Glory Ford and she survives.

He was a farmer and resident of this area for 23 years.

Besides his widow he is survived by three sons, Gilford Gilbert of Farmington, Hazen Gilbert of Fort Madison, and Paul Gilbert of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Dora Beth Fulton of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Hanshaw of Douds and Mrs. Julia Sadigren of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. in the Farmington church of the Nazarene with the Rev. J. Bryan Jones officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery. Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
