Wesley Steeples

Wesley Steeples, 81, Farmington, died Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 11 a.m. at Van Buren County Memorial hospital in Keosauqua.

Born May 9, 1882, he was the son of Harrison and Adeline Nickles Steeples. He was married to Anna Mary Keeler of Mt. Sterling who died Sept. 23, 1920. He was a laborer and spent most of his wife in Farmington.

Survivors include one son, Howard of Bonaparte; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Elder of El Monte, Calif; two step-daughters, Mrs. Harold Hawke of Farmington and Mrs. Lela Slee of San Bernardino, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Birdie Pruett of Keokuk; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two step-daughters, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Miller Home for Funerals at Farmington with the Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery.
