Fred S. Douthart

Fred Samuel Douthart, 78, of Bonaparte died Monday July 15, at 5:30 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 10, 1890 in Pratt County, Kans., the son of William F. and Alice Chamberlain Douthart.

When he was 3 he made his home with is uncle George Douthart in the vicinity of Hillsboro.

On Nov. 28, 1913 at Medicine Lodge, Kans. he married Addabelle Fern Platt of Isabel, Kansas.

He spent most of his life in Jefferson and Van Buren counties.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Alma Barr of Fairfield, Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Puffinbarger of Birmingham, Mrs. Keith (Mildred) McFarland of West Branch, Mrs. David (Deloris) Houser of Prairie Village, Kans.; four sons, Ralph of Bloomfield, Kenneth of Bonaparte, Milton of Fort Madison, and Courtland of Ely, Ia.; a grandson, Kenneth Douthart Jr., who made his home with them; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, two sons, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, July 18 at 3 p.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church.

DOUTHART FUNERAL

The funeral for Fred Samuel Douthart, 78, who died Monday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua, will be Thursday, July 25, at 3 p.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Hickman of Fairfield officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery.
