WILLARD BRERETON

Willard Raymond Brereton, 80, of Fairfield, died Saturday, June 4 at 5 p.m. at Jefferson county hospital. He had been in failing health four years.

He retired from the farm southeast of Fairfield, moving to town when his health failed.

Born Sept. 23, 1885, he was the son of William and Nancy Moore Brereton. He married Ida Giberson, Mar. 4, 1912, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Harold of Fairfield and Hollis of Keosauqua; five daughters, Mrs. Joe Martin, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Myron Metz and Mrs. Paul Kurtz, Fairfield; Mrs. Robert Wilson, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Herbert Johnson, Lockridge; 25 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a son, Glenn, who was killed in World War II.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weston Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Ned Gillum, of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawn cemetery, Fairfield.
