HARRY L. COWELL

Harry L. Cowell, age 37, proprietor of the Riverview cafe at the foot of Court street, Burlington, was found dead in the gas filled kitchen of his home on Tuesday evening, Oct. 17. Coroner Giles announced a verdict of suicide by asphyxiation and said there would be no inquest. The fire department's inhalator squad worked about 2 1/2 hours in an effort to revive Mr. Cowell.

The body was found by his wife when she returned home from the business district where she is employed, and she immediately called police and a physician.

Mr. Cowell wa born in Salem April 12, 1902. He was married to Hazel Mohrling in Peoria, Ill., Jan. 31, 1931. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. A resident of Burlington for 20 years, he was a salesman before entering the restaurant business.

Surviving besides his widow are a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Harold Deering of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Olivet Harvey of Parma, Idaho, Mrs. Pearl Nicolson of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Essie Standley of Hillsboro; and two brothers, Hollis and Vern, both of Yakima, Wash.
