Harriet May Randell

Mrs. Harriet May Randell of Keosauqua, passed away at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minn., on Thursday morning, Dec. 1st, following an illness of two days.

She was born at Stronghurst, Illinois on may 13, 1878, and was the daughter of James and Lavinia Thompson. She came to Keosauqua in December 1911.

On January 21, 1903 Harriet May Thompson was united in marriage with Bert A. Randell, who died on May 30, 1942.

Mrs. Randell is survived by three children: Miss Grace Randell, Mrs. Robert Umphrey, and Ray Randell. A son, Frank, died in infancy. Five grandchildren also survive. They are: Mrs. Fred Tisdale of Cantril; Mrs. Keith Dodds of Birmingham; Janet Umphrey of Birmingham; and Jeanne and Richard Randell of Keosauqua. There are two great-grandchildren, Doren Tisdale and Dennis Dodds.

She is also survived by one sister, Miss Rose Thompson. A sister, Mrs. Fannie Stokey, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Randell had been a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian church at Stronghurst until 1932, when she joined the Keosauqua Methodist church. She was a faithful member until the time of her death.

Funeral services were conducted by her pastor the Rev. Burton Bastuscheck, at the Keosauqua Methodist church on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3rd. Interment was at the Purdom cemetery in Keosauqua.
