Mrs. Elizabeth Richardson Scott, was the daughter of George and Mary Richardson and was born near Queens Run, Penn., November 20, 1852. She died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Cupp of Fairfield, Jan. 22, 1938, age 85 years, 2 months and 2 days.

She with her parents came to Iowa in 1854, and settled two miles west of Fairfield where she grew to womanhood; two years were spent near Douds. She became acquainted with Jno. Porter Scott of Birmingham with whom she united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1877. To this union were born four children: one son, Earl Scott, of Birmingham, Mrs. Fred Rains, and Mrs. Wm. Cupp of Fairfield, and Mrs. Wm. Goodson of Kirksville, Mo., all of whom survive her passing.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal church, then known as the White Chapel Methodist church near the farm where they resided until 1924. They moved to Birmingham and she transferred her membership to the church of that place, in which fellowship she was active until failing health, but was faithful until the end.

She is survived by her four children and four sisters, namely: Mrs. Alice Norris of Holdrege, Neb., Mrs. Anna Alston, Mrs. Ada Mae Wickens of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Crail of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Mrs. Clarence Pedrick of Douds, Chas Scott of Birmingham, Scott Rains and Maxine Cupp of Fairfield; two great grandchildren, Bobbie Pebrick(Pedrick) of Douds, and Jackie Rains of Fairfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband preceeded her in death June 26, 1926, also two sisters and four brothers.

To know Mrs. Scott was to love her wherever you met her, either in church or personal contact. In sickness she was patient, in trial hopeful, and submissive to her Master's will. She was kind and loving as a mother, and had done what she could like a wear pilgrim she has made it home at last. After six weeks of suffering she goes to her home in the skies.

Funeral services were conducted in her home in Birmingham, Monday at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. F.M. James and burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery east of Birmingham.
