MRS. HENRY L. TYLER

Mary Margaret Robinson, daughter of Henry and Mary Robinson, was born in Vernon, Iowa, Jan. 9, 1868, and departed this life in the same home May 31, 1937, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 22 days.

Her early life and school days were spent in Vernon. She then went to Colorado, making her home with an older sister while attending high school, graduating from the North Denver high school in 1888.

Returning to Iowa she taught school until her marriage to Henry L. Tyler of Muscatine, Iowa, March 29, 1891. Her entire life was spent in the home of her childhood with the above exception, and a brief residence in Ogalalla, Neb., where the eldest daughter, Bernice Clare, was born, and in Muscatine, the birthplace of the second daughter, Helen Gertrude. Three more children were added to the family circle after the return to the Vernon home, Mary Elizabeth, Edward Archibald and Margaret May.

Mrs. Tyler was a wonderful wife and mother and a most happy life was enjoyed by the various members of the family. She was highly esteemed as a friend and neighbor, as attested by the many kindnesses and attentions received during her sickness. Her entire was a busy, active one. She enjoyed life to its fullest extent and brought much happiness to the life of others. Her hospitality was unbounded, and especially were the visits of old time friends enjoyed.

She early became a member of the local Methodist church and has always been an active, earnest worker for its interests. She served in various capacities and during the later years was Supt. of the Sunday School. She was identified with all movements for the improvement and advancement of the community, always ready to sacrifice personal desires and pleasures for the larger good of others.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Magnolia Chapter No. 276, Bonaparte. She was also affiliated with the Literary Club, Cemetery association, and the Library Board.

On March 8 she was stricken with paralysis. For awhile hopes were entertained for her recovery, but despite all that could be done for her life ebbed away and the end came peacefully early Monday morning.

Preceding her in death were her three brothers, Joseph A., George W. and Harry M. Robinson; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Aldridge; an infant daughter, and the son, Edward A.

Surviving her are the husband, Henry L. Tyler, the four daughters, Mrs. Finley Elliott of Bentonsport, Mrs. Henry Wright of Washington, D.C., Elizabeth of Des Moines, and Margaret at home; one brother, W.A. Robinson of Jetmore, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. John McKee of Fairfield; also four grandchildren, Richard, Philip and Dorothy Elliott, and Janet Elizabeth Wright.

Funeral services were held in the Bentonsport M.E. church Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Harvey E. Butler and Magnolia Chapter of the Eastern Star officiating. Her body was laid to rest in the Vernon cemetery.
