Crash Near Stockport Kills Raymond Giberson

Raymond Giberson, 25, Stockport, was instantly killed Tuesday night, June 6, when the car he was driving home from a fishing trip to Oakland Mills, went out of control on a gravel road and went over an embankment.

With him was his uncle, Ivan Harter, about 60, also of Stockport who was injured. He is in Memorial hospital, Keosauqua.

The crash took place three miles northeast of Stockport near the Louis Wilhelm and Merrill Isaacson farms.

Mr. Giberson and Harter were accompanied by Jim Williams, Stockport, who was in his own car but he was not involved in the accident.

It appeared as tho Giberson lost control of his car and it skidded for some distance before going over the embankment.

The car was a total wreck.

Raymond Giberson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Giberson, Stockport. In addition to his parents he is survived by a brother, Harold, at home; a sister, Mrs. Richard Cheeley, Stockport.

Giberson was engaged in saw mill and combine work with his father. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. CST at the Stockport Christian church in charge of the Rev. Chester Werft. Burial was in Spencer cemetery near Stockport.
