Aurom Elder

Aurom Elder, 75, died in University hospitals, Iowa City, Monday, Nov. 20.

Elder suffered a fractured hip Nov. 10 and had entered the hospital, where he had surgery, three days later.

Last rites were held at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home at Keosauqua at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. Rev. E.S. Tschetter, pastor of the Keosauqua Methodist church, officiated. Burial was in Fellows cemetery.

A native of the Milton community, Elder was born Oct. 11, 1886, the son of Alfred and Alice HOlmes Elder. He was married to Martha Matchett of Mt Sterling and they farmed for many years, moving to Keosauqua in 1951. Mrs. Elder died the following year.

Surviving are a foster-daughter, Mrs. Roy Zollars, Payton; two brothers, W.H. Elder, Des Moines and I.N. Elder, Keosauqua, and five grandchildren. A brother and two sisters died previously.
