William L. Park

William Leslie Park, son of Arza and Hannah McLaughlin Park, was born Nov. 30, 1874 near Bloomfield, Ia. and Passed away Nov. 19, 1961 at the Hainline Nursing Home in Bonaparte, Ia., at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 19 days.

On Oct. 14, 1903 he was united in marriage to Ione Lorton Hanan of Mt. Sterling, who passed away Jan. 12, 1960.

For the past five years he had made his home with his daughter in Fairfield, where he was lovingly cared for until a month before his death.

He established a home in Mt. Sterling and resided there for 53 years, taking an active part in all community affairs, serving his town as councilman, marshal and mayor.

For many years he was engaged in the livery business and horses were his pride and joy. Before retirement on account of ill health, he managed a branch lumber business for the Farmington Lumber Co.

His home and family were his first concern and his door was always open to his friends and loved ones.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and attended as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a step-son, Willard.

Surviving is his daughter, Bernice, a son-in-law, Wm. Davidson; two grandsons, Park R. Davidson of New York City and Kent Ian Davidson, a student at State University of Iowa; a brother, O.D. Park of Cantril, Ia., as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
