Lance Giberson, 77, formerly of Bentonsport, IA, passed away on February 16, 2017.

He was born January 24, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, to Thomas "Hugh' Giberson and Helen Pauline (Kirk) Giberson. He married Gloria Jean (Holtkamp) on November 6, 1960, at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, IA.

Survivors include his wife Gloria Giberson of Mission, TX, one son, Richard Giberson of Waukesha, WI, one daughter, Shari (Don) Spilman of Ottumwa, IA, one sister, Diane (Joseph) Beyers of Naples, FL, one sister-inlaw, Sharon Reno of Burlington, IA, one grandson, Chase Spilman of Ottumwa, IA, one aunt, Arlene Kirk of Elk, WA, two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law.

He graduated from Stockport High School in 1957. Lance worked for Gustafson Brothers Dairy and R and S Bottling in Burlington, IA. He farmed in Van Buren County for a number of years. He left farming and drove for Umthun Trucking, Ruan Corp. and Fuehauf Trailer. He worked for Hamburg Body Shop in Farmington, IA. In 1984, he and Gloria moved to Winfield, IA, and started their own business called County Maid Dairies. They were distributors for Swiss Valley dairy products throughout southeastern Iowa. They operated the business until his retirement in 1997.

He and Gloria traveled to Arizona and Texas during retirement until settling in Mission, TX. They would come back to Iowa during the summer months. Lance enjoyed visiting with people and enjoyed the warm weather in Texas.

He had a love for cars and RVs and for his poodles.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
