Florence Ellen Cornelius, age 90 of Fairfield, IA, died March 22 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Florence was born October 22, 1926, at Packwood, the daughter of Oscar and Marie Quackenbush Haynes.

She grew up in Bentonsport and lived in Keosauqua before moving to Fairfield in 1952. She had attended school in Bentonsport and Bonaparte.

Florence married John Henry Cornelius in 1947 at Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1986. Florence worked as a sales clerk at a Sears store in Fairfield for 35 years.

Deceased family members include her husband, one son, Michael Cornelius, in 2009, her parents and five brothers and seven sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy (Ed) Holmer of Tannersville, PA, one son, Jerry (Vicki) Cornelius of Marionville, MO, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Cornelius of Fairfield; five grandchildren: Christopher (June) Holmer, Jacqueline (Eric) Stadtlander, Josh (Jerrica) Cornelius, John Cornelius, Sara (Derick) Clark and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield on March 27. Interment was in McDowell Cemetery, north of Fairfield.
Arrangements were in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
