Arvel Rodmen Grant was born in Lee county, Iowa, on August 19, 1872. He was the son of Dallas R. and Theodocia Lewis Grant. He died at his home near Farmingto, Iowa, Jan. 5, 1942, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 17 days.

He was married to Fannie Burhans Oct. 4, 1899, and to this union two sons were born, Amos and Denzlow D. Grant. Amos died July 12, 1936. He is survived by his loving wife and son, Denzlow, of East Moline, Ill., and two grandchildren.

He was converted when a young man and joined the First Methodist church of Burlington, Iowa, in 1898. In later years of his life he spent much time in Bible study, seeking to know God's will and to obey. He was also deeply interested in all with whom he came in contact in that they might know the will of God and be saved.

Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. C.C. Swalwell of the Nazarene church. Interment was in the Greenglade cemetery.
