Clara B. McIntosh, eldest child of John McIntosh, was born Aug. 27, 1885, and departed this life May 3, 1901, aged 15 years, 8 months and 6 days. Her entire life was spent in her native county, Van Buren, except one year with her parents in California. In her 13th year she united with the M.E. church at Center Chapel, of which she was a faithful member and follower of Christ at her death. Clara was one whom to know was to love, having a kind, loving disposition and a willing heart, She leaves a father, mother and four brothers, besides a host of friends to mourn her death. She will ever be remembered as an example of christian l'ving. She attended the Keosauqua high school and was a member of the junior class. In her studies she was ambitious to excel and being a close student stood high in the estimation of her teachers. A number of her friends gathered to pay their last respects, quite a number of A.O.U.W.'s being present. The funeral was held at Center Chapel by her pastor, who spoke to her friends and schoolmates from Eccl. 12-1. Though with hearts burdened with grief we laid her "at rest," yet we know that our loss is her gain. Her soul unstained by sin is with her Redeemer and as we, through tear-dimmed eyes, look upon the place we laid her, by faith we see her clad in white robes with a crown of glory upon her brow, a golden harp in her hand, beckoning us home. Gone, but not forgotten, thy death shall not be in vain. The beautiful example of love and trust shall not be lost but patiently waiting and earnestly endeavoring, we will meet the upon that happy shore where parting shall be no more.
