Leon A. Pettit, 35, well known life-long resident of this city and Hupmobile dealer in this territory, succumbed to a three months' illness yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at his home, 1707 Madison avenue.
Mr. Pettit was born in Burlington, January 11, 1893 and was married May 11, 1918 to Miss Mabel Peterson, who survives. He was a member of the Grace Methodist church, Malta lodge No. 318, A. F. and A. M. Murad Grotto, and the United Commercial Travelers.
Mr. Pettit was an accomplished musician and played in both the Municipal and Murad Grotto bands. His cheerful disposition and likeable personality won for him a place in the hearts of scores of friends and aided him much in attaining the prestige he commanded among business associates, all of whom feel a great loss in his passing.
Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pettit of Burlington, and one brother, Harry Pettit of Clinton, Ia. He was preceded in death by an infant son and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence, 1707 Madison avenue, Thursday afternoon at a time to be announced later, with Rev. Loyd Tennant in charge. His body will remain at Prugh's chapel until definite arrangements for the funeral are made.
