DEATH CLAIMS JACOB LORTON
Milton Resident Died After Prolonged Illness; 56 Years Old

Funeral services for Jacob Lorton, 56 year old Milton resident, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday of last week at the Burnett funeral home in Milton. Rites were conducted by Rev. C.A. Boulton, of Keosauqua, pastor of the Christian church at Milton.

Burial was made in the Wolf cemetery, near Bonaparte.

Mr. Lorton died about 9 oclock Sunday morning, December 22, at a hospital in Mt. Pleasant where he was taken several weeks ago. He had been in poor health for the past year and about three months ago he was taken to the State hospital at Iowa City for treatment and later to the hospital

The Lorton family moved to Mt. Pleasantf(err).

Meeks ranch, southeast of Milton, about five years ago, from Mt. Sterling. Later they moved to Milton where they have since made their home.

Jake Lorton Passes

Jake Lorton of Milton, died at the hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Sunday, December 22, after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife and five children, William, of Troy, Thomas, Lawrence, Marguerite and Mrs. Alice Sauers, all of Detroit, Michigan. The funeral was held at the Burnett funeral home in Milton, Thursday, December 26, at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Boulton, of the Christian Church. Burial was at the Wolf cemetery near Bonaparte. Mr. Lorton had been a resident at Milton and vicinity for about five years, coming to this community from Mt. Sterling.
